TOYS R US

Yet another tiring day of staying on the dreaded shelf was coming towards an end for him as people passed by, some of them holding him to have a look and then as per a monotonous routine putting him back. It was becoming harder each day to hide that acrid pain behind the pasted on smile. The veracity of being just a part of the big world wouldn't make things easier. The day was going to pile up as usual when some words ripped his emotions. "I wanna take this home" came out of those rosy lips of a little girl. Thunder blasted out all around and the rest of the world seemed dark as his heart went on a sprint. Blood gushed through his veins as he felt her touch when she picked him up from the toyshelf, a chill ran through his nerves as she placed him on the cart. Moving through the aisles seemed a journey out of the venomous hell. A sigh of relief flared up his nares as he was scanned at the checkout into the bag. The relaxation of freedom from achromatic life of store made his eyes heavy and he didn't know for how long he slept but woke up when he struck against the sofa. His eyes lightened up again as he was slowly pulled out of the bag. His eyes looked straight into her green eyes peeking through those short hair that covered half of her face. Wasn't he lucky to have such a cute owner to play with, these thoughts delighted him as she hugged him and carried him to her room settling him right on the pillow besides hers. The next day was more exciting, the play started as she woke up and hugged him. He didn't even realize it was afternoon so soon being played with and then a lightning struck almost stopping his heart when she said" Mom, I don't think I like this that much, lets return it". What the heck!!.....She played with me whole day and what did I do to make her feel that way!!

To his dismay, he was back in the bag with emotions entangled up in his mind. The more he tried to figure out the reasons, the more confusion grew up and the pain became unbearable. He closed his eyes again, but this time in ignominy of going back to the shelf. The last hope vanished as he was scanned back at the customer service and watched her leave with the money. He couldn't face the others some of whom were even sympathetic as he got back on his shelf. Her memories were charring out his brain and he fell back to sleep again, but this time into the darkness of rejection.

The show started again next morning with a pasted smile and entertainment of the customers. The aisle was the home again and hope the dream. Millions of other toys like him were going to sleep each night wishing they would be in some home tomorrow. Life for him had started to come back to basics and soon he was mingled up comfortably with his brothers. But fortune had something else in store for him. After 3 weeks of the episode, he was startled again by the same face looking at him. "Mom, I didn't find anything else better, so I am taking this back".

This time the emotions were damped by the insecurity as he was scanned again. Even reaching the home, he was cautious. His heart would still race up whenever she would hug him but his eyes would close in prayer for that moment to never end. The distress relieved a bit when the next day passed by and he still found himself in her home. The play was fun and his happiness had overwhelmed him again. There could be no better life for him. The days passed by and grew his love for her stronger. But he forgot one thing.........He was a toy. That day perhaps was worse than being in a grave for him when he heard her words" I am bored with this". His eyes closed again, this time praying to die and he opened them up when one of his brothers shouted at him back at the aisle. "This is our life Man!!.......We are toys!"

This is no different a story from what happens around and it happened to one of my best friend.....TOYS R US!

Yes, there can be no worse feeling than to have someone take you off the shelf, play with you for a while, raise your hopes then suddenly ignore you. Being returned to the store is not the worst fate, it can only give
the toy the possibility that someone else may find and appreciate it. But, it's when you've been taken off the shelf and you sit in a toybox, in the
dark, not being played with but not being returned. Just sitting there...waiting. That's venomous hell.

I hate knowing that my fate is to end up at the Goodwill store. But at least someone will appreciate me who is maybe less fortunate but more excited about me that someone who could have any toy.
